Aileen McLean

Scottish Government

Aileen has had a successful and varied career as a senior leader in schools and education services. Aileen has worked in various councils across the central belt as a teacher, Headteacher and latterly as a senior manager in City of Edinburgh Council responsible for schools and early years. Her passion and interest in early years led her to become involved in the expansion of Early Learning and Childcare and she has been supporting Scottish Government and councils across Scotland as a professional advisor. She supported the trials of 1140 from the north to the south of Scotland and is particularly interested in supporting the quality of early years settings through a time of transformational change.

Aileen’s family has also expanded and she is delighted to have a new granddaughter who will benefit from the ELC expansion. Her personal interests include walking the dog and new granddaughter, trying to learn Italian, keep fit and enjoy holidays.
