David commenced employment with Glasgow City Council’s “Building & Works” department in 1986 as an apprentice joiner. In 1993 he became a site foreman and soon progressed to become a projects manager within the School Construction Programme. Before leaving the construction department in 2013, he was a programme manager responsible for the construction of schools and commonwealth games venue projects. In 2013 – after 27 years of continuous service – he joined the Education Department as their capital investment programme manager. David is now the Head of Development for GCC’s Property and Land Services department which includes management of the Council’s in-house Project Management and Design Team of over 100 design and engineering professionals, and responsibility for a significant portion of the Council’s capital programme.
